Applications of Lauroyl Lysine

  • Cosmetics and Personal Care: Lauryl lysine is primarily used in cosmetics and personal care products.

N-Lauroyl-L-lysine is used as an ingredient in cosmetic products such as foundations, loose powders, and eyeshadows, where it helps improve the product’s smoothness, spreadability, and long-lasting adherence. When added to creams, shampoos, and conditioners, it enhances the product’s moisturizing and nourishing effects.

Lauroyl Lysine, derived from natural amino acids and fatty acids, has good biocompatibility and is extremely low in irritation to the skin and eyes, making it suitable for cosmetic applications.

  • Food Additives: Food-grade lauroyl lysine can be used as an anti-caking agent in powdered foods such as milk powder and seasonings to prevent powder clumping.
  • Pharmaceutical and Medical Applications: Pharmaceutical-grade lauroyl lysine is used as an excipient in drug formulations, acting as a filler/flow agent to improve powder flowability and compressibility; it can also be used as a drug carrier, a surface modifier for medical materials, and an auxiliary agent for antibacterial agents; it can also be used in medical dressings and tissue engineering scaffolds to enhance biocompatibility.
  • Industrial applications: Industrial-grade lauroyl lysine fundamentally alters the surface properties of solid particles such as powders, pigments, and fillers by forming a layer of oriented molecules on their surface. It is widely used in the production and processing of products such as coatings, inks, plastics, and specialty papers.
